Published Oct 12, 2012Toronto's Rich Kidd and Vancouver's SonReal originally teamed up for a planned collaborative EP, but the two hip-hop artists hit it off so well in the studio that the project evolved into a full-length. That 10-track LP is called The Closers, and it's due out on Tuesday (October 16) via Black Box. Before then, you can stream the whole thing on Exclaim.ca.
These songs were laid down during sessions in Toronto and Los Angeles. According to a press release, the results will appeal to more than just rap fans, since the material is said to boast "hooky melodic tunes, heavy beats and rhymes that bounce."
Rich Kidd produced several of the tracks on The Closers, which is only fitting considering that he has worked with the likes of Drake, Shad, Jay Electronica, Redman, and K-os. Other contributing producers include Wonda Gurl, Arthur McArthur, Beat Merchant and Chin Injeti.
In support of the album, Rich Kidd and SonReal will play a string of Canadian shows. You can see all the scheduled dates so far below.
