After dropping a pair of protest songs from his forthcoming United States album, Halifax native Rich Aucoin has returned with a new single titled "Dopamine" from the record.

Today, the artist has shared the song's accompanying video, culled from images taken on Aucoin's cross-country cycling trek in support of Mental Health America. The black and white images featured in the video are in directed reference to Robert Frank's photobook The Americans.

"Inspired by this fellow foreigner's look at America, I took many photos for the purpose of crafting something similar for this video but unfortunately all the photos that weren't posted in my blog for Paste Magazine, were lost after the tour had concluded," Aucoin explained in a statement.

"Nevertheless, I edited down the 264 remaining photographs to the 83 in this video; the same number as in Frank's seminal work. Frank coincidentally has also called Nova Scotia home and where he passed away last year."

The song was composed during Aucoin's bicycle trek and tackles with introspection and mindfulness. "Dopamine" follows the release of Aucoin's "Reset" and "How It Breaks." His forthcoming album arrives on September 18 via Haven Sounds, and marks his first since 2019's Release.
