Revolution Mother Rollin' With Tha Mutha

It's always interesting to hear the kind of music pro skaters and their buddies come up with. It ranges from the questionable CKY business to something as dark, powerful and confrontational as Revolution Mother. Featuring four-wheeler Mike "Mike V" Vallely, Revolution Mother are the perfect collection of miscreants to fill those great shoes vacated by hardcore punks Discharge, since they've failed to follow up their incredible 2001 eponymous effort. Varying between pointed shots of hyperactive rage and tempered, half-time chugs reminiscent of what might be background music to a biker getting ready to kick some ass, the overall feel of Rollin' With Tha Mutha is a greasy pit of influences culled from the bowels of ANTiSEEN, Dukes Of Nothing, Artimus Pyledriver's gritty groove and of course, the almighty Motörhead. Rollin' With Tha Mutha is tough, uncompromising and kind of creepy punk rock'n'roll with metal tendencies. It's one of few releases from a newbie band that merits instant credibility, as it's performed by the kind of dudes you really want on your side of any potential battle. (Ferret)
