Published Apr 18, 2014Today marks the start of the Easter long weekend, but that doesn't mean you have to wait until Sunday to get a special holiday treat. Just head to your local cinema and check out one of this week's new films.
To help you on your way, we've taken a look at a few of the features hopping into theaters this weekend. Read some of our reviews below, but don't forget to visit our Recently Reviewed section for coverage of even more new titles.
Starting things off is Transcendence, the star-studded sci-fi film starring Johnny Depp and Rebecca Hall. Christopher Nolan's Batman trilogy cinematographer Wally Pfister directs in his first-feature film, but is there more to this escapist flick than just a bunch of pretty pictures? Read our review to find out.
Next, Marlon Wayans continues his mediocre silver screen run with the found footage horror satire sequel A Haunted House 2, while fellow Canuck A.J. Bond creates a claustrophobic and disorienting experience with the faux-documentary style horror flick Stress Position.
Finally, if you prefer marijuana-laced edibles instead of chocolate covered candy, then Mike Clattenburg has the film for you. Bubbles, Julian, Ricky and Mr. Lahey return in Trailer Park Boys: Don't Legalize It, the final instalment of the Showcase Original's cinematic trilogy. However, does the film deliver the perfect 4/20 high, or only a mild buzz? Click through to know.
