Atom Egoyan's Devil's Knot is a serious drama hinged on the true story of the West Memphis Three murders. This narrative film follows hot on the heels of last year's noted documentary West of Memphis, which covers the same topic. Wondering if Egoyan's all-star cast, including Reese Witherspoon and Colin Firth, can accurately portray this unfathomable story of injustice? Read the review to find out.
Clio Barnard's award winning British film The Selfish Giant, inspired by the Oscar Wilde story of the same name, follows two working class 13-year-old boys while they seek fortune by grifting copper to hawk at the local scrap metal yard, while documentary The Final Member profiles Sigurour Hjartarson on his hunt to obtain a human penis for the world's largest display of male genitalia at the Icelandic Phallological Museum.
Rounding out our list is Asghar Farhadi's award-winning French film The Past. This family-centered drama focuses on the complications of forgiveness, and attempts to show that things are not always as they appear. But is this film worth a gander? You'll need to read the review to decide.
