Retribution Gospel Choir Announce '3'

BY Gregory AdamsPublished Dec 20, 2012

Earlier this year, Low dude Alan Sparhawk's Retribution Gospel Choir released a four-song 7-inch, but the trio will only issue two new tunes on their upcoming LP, 3. The thing is, it sounds as if these are a pair of epic jams.

Sparhawk recently took to the band's website to drop a little info on the record, which will hit retailers January 22 through Chaperone Records. Despite only featuring two new cuts, this is indeed a full-length follow-up to 2010's 2. Both songs of the "radio-format-challenged record" take up an entire side of vinyl.

A-side outing "Can't Walk Out" is reportedly a "repetitive, building, almost free, freakout," while Sparhawk said "Seven" represents the more sprawling side of the band. You can sample that latter track, which features guest guitar work from Wilco's Nels Cline, in the player down below, where you'll also find some U.S. tour dates.

As for Low, don't forget that the slowcore vets are delivering an LP of their own next year called The Invisible Way. It's due out March 19 through Sub Pop and was produced by another Wilco member, Jeff Tweedy.
