Resonars

Bright and Dark

BY Chris RolfePublished Dec 1, 1999

A jingle-jangly absorption of the Byrds and the Hollies at their best (Graham Nash just wishes he’d written these songs). Yet, the Resonars’ greatest attribute is their keen harmonic sense. Walls of vocals aptly compliment the stirring, hook-filled songwriting, especially on the disc’s first half. Indeed, “Bathyscope” sounds akin to a Brian Wilson remix of every song on Revolver, squished into two and half minutes. All pretty impressive for a four-track recording. Then again, that’s how they did it in the old days, didn’t they?
