Resistance

Don't let that Hatebreed-esque hardcore cover fool you — this isn't complete meathead hardcore. Rather, it's a bunch of Swedish death metal vets, most notably, prominent dudes from In Flames and Marco Aro (ex-the Haunted, Facedown). Here, these four songs show Aro doing what he does best — that mid-ground hardcore-metal stomp, all anger, all the time, with the Gothenburg riffing never far (see "Face to Face"), but the hardcore vibe he brought to his other bands is also ever-present, as on the title track. With a solid production, fun drumming and a simple sound that's easy to get behind, this one isn't groundbreaking, but it's certainly fun to listen to. If you were a fan of Aro's time in the Haunted or any of Facedown's material, it's definitely worth a listen.
