Published Apr 29, 2014Since R.E.M.'s disbanding in 2011, Peter Buck has released a self-titled solo album, a few 7-inches and, earlier this year, the incredibly named I Am Back to Blow Your Mind Once Again. His busy streak continues, though he's not working alone. Instead, the guitarist has formed a new band with Sleater-Kinney's Corin Tucker.
As the Portland Mercury reports [via Pitchfork], the pair have joined forces in a new project called super-Earth.
Alongside Tucker and Buck, super-Earth is rounded out by veteran musicians Bill Rieflin (of Swans and Ministry), Scott McCaughey (of Young Fresh Fellows and Minus 5) and Kurt Bloch (formerly of the Fastbacks).
The band, who may still change their name, will perform the opening slots at Peter Buck's solo shows at Portland's Secret Society Ballroom tonight (April 29) and tomorrow.
McCaughey said their shows will consist of "an entire set of soon-to-be-album-sized new compositions by said Buck/Tucker combine."
In other words, the band have a full album on the way. Corin Tucker's last album was 2012's Kill My Blues.
