R.E.M. "Oh My Heart" (video)

R.E.M. 'Oh My Heart' (video)
We knew that more R.E.M. videos would be coming. After all, the band recently promised to unveil a clip for each of the 12 tracks on their newly released Collapse into Now. Sure enough, here's the band's latest video for "Oh My Heart."

This one was directed by NYC filmmaker Jem Cohen, who previously shot a video for the band's "Talk About the Passion" more than two decades ago. For this acoustic waltz, Cohen filmed some scenes from around Vienna. It's a muted clip, showing lots of nighttime imagery, a gentle river and a dark skate park. But the clip is a good fit for the song, with its mournful accordion and sleepy, group-sung harmonies. The song includes lyrical allusions to "Houston" from 2008's Accelerate, another downbeat acoustic waltz.
