R.E.M. "It Happened Today" (ft. Eddie Vedder)
We've been hotly anticipating R.E.M.'s upcoming Collapse into Now, which will feature an "expansive" new sound and a number of high-profile guests. One such guests is Pearl Jam's Eddie Vedder, who lends his vocals to "It Happened Today," now streaming online.

Unlike the raw, rocking Accelerate, Collapse into Now seems to feature a textured sound that more closely resembles 1992's Automatic for the People. With lush acoustic guitars, cavernous handclaps and what sounds like Peter Buck's mandolin playing, "It Happened Today" culminates in a cinematic, wordless sing-along. Vedder's vocals aren't particularly distinct, but he presumably contributes some of the harmonies.
