"Flying a Kite" (video)

Vancouver psych-folk outfit Redrick Sultan released their latest album Fly as a Kite earlier this month, and now Exclaim! is giving you the exclusive first look at the brand new video for the almost title track, "Flying a Kite."

The new album hears the band grappling with dark thematic content like "society's impact on human communication and the invisible distances people create between each other," without losing their bright sound. "Flying a Kite" in particular builds on top of the band's usual array of influences, bringing in elements of surf music for a dreamy, hazed-out feel.

The accompanying video opens against stunning desert landscapes, toying with psychedelic imagery like Kanye West's face appearing in a mirror. Things quickly take a snowy turn before descending into an extended trip through the depths of the band's imagination.

The clip was filmed across places in Vancouver, California and Arizona — including Star Wars set spot Yuma, AZ. Watch the band trek through an array of surreal situations, inspired by the likes of Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas and Alice in Wonderland in the player below.

Fly as a Kite is out now on Inky Records.
