Following the passing of the Cars' frontman Ric Ocasek, a variety of different musicians — from the Killers, to Blink-182's Mark Hoppus and more — have come forward to pay their respects. And now Red Hot Chili Peppers have also paid tribute.

Last night (September 22) at their concert in Marina Bay, Singapore, RHCP performed their own version of the Cars' "Just What I Needed" in honour of the late musician. In fact, they delivered a set full of different covers, ranging from Prince's "Purple Rain" to Stevie Wonder's "Higher Ground," as well as their rendition of the Cars' classic.

While the band debuted the cover only last night, it's unclear if they'll perform it again. Red Hot Chili Peppers' next scheduled performance is at Ohana Festival in Capistrano Beach, CA, this Sunday (September 29).

Leading up to his death, Ocasek struggled with heart disease. On September 15, he passed away in his sleep while in recovery from a surgical procedure. He was 75 years old. His band — formed in the late '70s — were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame just last year.
