Red Fang Set Release Date for Next LP via New Teaser

BY Gregory AdamsPublished Jul 1, 2016

Oregon-based metal-sludge quartet Red Fang are about to bare their teeth again, having just announced the release date for their next album. A teaser explains that the as-yet-untitled full-length is due October 14 via Relapse Records.

Details are still pending, but the video teaser comprises a score of heavy drones and some six-string scraping. Visually, a camera slowly pans across a wavy black and white scene before unveiling the due date within a red orb. You can check it out below.

As previously reported, Red Fang had holed up with heavy music producer Ross Robinson (At the Drive-In, Head Wound City, Slipknot) at the end of January to track the release. It had been added at the time that the album, the band's first since Whales and Leeches, was to be mixed by Joe Barresi (Queens of the Stone Age, Kyuss, Melvins, Tool). Red Fang then took some of the new material on the road for a handful of North American dates with Bison and Black Wizard.

While we'll have to wait a little while longer for the record to arrive, you can sample the snippet below.

UPDATE (7/13, 2:00 p.m. EDT): Red Fang have now confirmed that the record will be called Only Ghosts. You'll find its tracklisting below and its cover above. You can also listen to the lead-off track "Flies" at the bottom of the page.

3. Flames
