Published Nov 23, 2011Aspiring DJs from all over the world will pour into Vancouver this December to prove who's the king or queen of the decks as part of Red Bull's THRE3STYLE World Finals. Following earlier regional and national competitions, spinners from 18 nations will attempt to wow 604 crowds to nab that top spot. But on top of the battles, each night will feature headlining sets from the likes of some A-list notables, including Peanut Butter Wolf, DJ Premier and Pete Rock.
A press release for the event explains that competitions will be held from December 13 to 17, pitting the global deck crusaders against each other. Just like in the qualifying rounds, their goal is to rock it with a 15-minute set that encapsulates three different styles of music while keeping the crowd bumpin' and the judges dumbfounded.
Representing Canada is Vancouver native Hedspin, who dethroned 2010 winner Drastik at the nationals in Toronto last month. Of his win, Hedspin noted, "I'm in shock. There were so many great DJs from all over the country that repped hard. I'm very thankful that I won."
Hedspin's first round in the finals takes place December 14 at the Venue nightclub, where he'll square off against Argentina's Robert Moreno, India's DJ Dippy and BITCODE from Spain. You can check the rest of the details for the tournament down below.
The final four DJs duke it out December 17 at the Commodore, and after the winner is crowned, there will be a Z-Trip performance.
