Published Feb 23, 2010Fresh on the heels of his January EP Low Ceiling, reggae, latin and tropical-influenced DJ Poirier is set both to release his debut LP, Running High, and to tour across Canada in its support.
The album, which is due March 30 from Ninja Tune, will be followed just two days later by a Canadian tour that will start in Hamilton, ON before going east to Halifax and then back to the West coast. According to the press release, Poirier's tour is "guaranteed to showcase very different facets of his style and production, from digi-dancehall bangers, hyper Soca rhythms, and techno/Caribbean hybrids."
Before heading out on his Canadian tour, Poirier will make stops in Montreal, in Austin as part of this year's SXSW, and in Mexico for three dates.
Right now, Poirier is at the Red Bull Music Academy in London honing his craft. To document his stay, he and a handful of fellow attendees (including Exclaim! Frequencies editor Dimitri Nasrallah) are blogging from the academy for Exclaim! You can read all about it and follow along here.
