Receivers

'The Air on the Set' (album stream)

Montreal-based dream popsters Receivers are almost ready to reveal their sophomore LP The Air on the Set, and you can stream it on Exclaim.ca before it officially arrives.

Blending eerie psychedelia with whimsical indie pop, the band crafted 11 new tracks for the forthcoming record. It was recorded, mixed and produced with Juno Award winner Joseph Donovan (the Dears, Sam Roberts, We Are Wolves), who also serves as the band's guitarist.

The record draws out beauty from melancholy on numbers like "Ships and Lanterns" and "The Keenan Bells," while tracks like "Devotional" and "Three Loves" veer more towards daydream-y romance, largely thanks to Emilie Marzinotto's airy, ghost-like vocals.

With a unique brand of hazy, melodic dream pop that doesn't shy away from experimenting with more ominous, gloomy sounds, it's clear that album opener "No One Is Listening" is a total misnomer.

The Air on the Set is out on February 20, but you can give it a listen right now, in the player below.
