The Raveonettes

"Recharge & Revolt" (video)

When the Raveonettes announced their latest LP, Raven in the Grave, they promised that it would be their darkest yet, saying, "It's one of those albums that makes you wanna blow your brains out." We've now got the collection's first video, and despite the first lyric being about "a hole in my head," we're not really convinced that this is particularly bleak or depressing.

The song is a triumphant shoegaze stomp, soaked in reverb and backed by cinematic string synths. The clip shows singer Sune Rose Wagner walking around with a flag slung over his shoulder. He acts out most of the lines of the near-six-minute anthem, eventually meeting up with bandmate Sharin Foo in the final moments.
