The Rapture, the Polyphonic Spree and Bad Brains Compose Themes for MLS Teams

As far as theme songs for sports teams go, few are worth remembering. "Okay Blue Jays"? Who'd download that? Well, the MLS is cooler than the MLB, fo' sure! In a bid to help boost soccer's non-existent reputation in the U.S., the league has recruited 13 musical acts, including the Rapture, Bad Brains and the Polyphonic Spree, to write theme songs for their hometown clubs.

Note: the only Canadian team is proudly represented by the City of Toronto's beloved Barenaked Ladies.

According to Pitchfork, each song is available to download for free from the "Rock the Pitch" site.

The artists and their theme songs:

Akwid: "¡Chivas Explosivas!" (Chivas USA)
Bad Brains: "D.C. United" (D.C. United)
