The Rapture

BY Joshua OstroffPublished Apr 19, 2007

Few bands have coasted as long on one single as these New York dance rockers, but the fear of losing their edge has put the Rapture into a fighting stance. Still, though their new tunes are undeniably fun and bouncy — as denoted by the plentiful female bodies dancing in the crowd — they haven’t achieved much more than moving the dance floor. The guitar solos were great, the sax player on point, Luke Jenner’s vocals rocked rather fiercely and the cowbells were in full effect, but it just left me wishing they all had something more substantial to wrap themselves around. That is, until a grudgingly played, but fantastically performed "House of Jealous Lovers” brought the whole house down.
