Rancid's Tim Armstrong Announces LP As Tim Timebomb and Friends

BY Gregory AdamsPublished Nov 12, 2012

It's been about a year since Tim Armstrong noted that new LPs from Rancid and the Transplants are on the way, but it looks like the punk-and-reggae-inspired guitarist/vocalist will issue a solo set under the banner Tim Timebomb and Friends before either of those sets arrive.

The last week has seen Armstrong posting a collection of originals and covers recorded with a revolving cast of musicians, including Transplants/Blink-182 drummer Travis Barker, with plans to bundle everything together for an iTunes release that drops December 11 via Hellcat Records.

On top of originals previewed so far like "It's Quite Alright" and "Change That Song Mr. DJ", he and his crew have tackled tunes by the Faces, Elvis Costello and the Specials. While a final tracklisting has yet to appear, you can sample what's been premiered so far on the project's YouTube page. Hear "She's Drunk All the Time" below.
