Wu-Tang Clan-related reissues are de rigueur this year, with GZA's Liquid Swords box set having dropped back in July via Get On Down. The label's next backwards glance is cast towards Raekwon and his 1995 solo debut Only Build 4 Cuban Linx. The imprint got extra retro for this one, though, and has just issued it as a deluxe cassette on purple plastic.
A press release explains that Get On Down dropped the tape today (September 17), and it's limited to 1,000 copies. The package includes the album in full and is preserved in a "premium, glass-top, piano lacquer four-inch-tall black display case with gold-colored hardware," which you can check out above.
The set contains album artwork delivered on a standard "j-card" fold-out, as well as a 32-page booklet with liner notes from journalist Brian Coleman. The notes also include an interview and song-to-song remembrances from Raekwon.
Other premium goodies in the set are a glossy poster based on the original promotional campaign and a sticker.
Only Build 4 Cuban Linx contains a number of Wu classics like "Ice Cream" and "Heaven & Hell," showcases countless guest spots from Ghostface Killah, and also features Nas, Method Man, Inspectah Deck, Masta Killa, RZA and the first appearances from Cappadonna.
Beyond the reissue spree, the Wu-Tang Clan are dropping new material with D-Block on that upcoming full-length Wu-Block collaboration, which arrives October 9 through eOne.
