Radiohead Sign to XL

Though it's been a hot topic for the last week or so, Radiohead have confirmed that they have signed a deal with XL Recordings - the label that released Thom Yorke's Eraser last year - to release a physical version of the band's latest album, In Rainbows. Although no word has been given as to when the album will be released on CD and LP and through digital shops like iTunes, XL execs seem excited about releasing an album that has already reportedly sold over one million copies.

"Radiohead are a constant inspiration to us all," said XL founder Richard Russell in a statement, "because they unfailingly put creativity first. XL is more than honoured to be working with Radiohead." While XL's Managing Director Ben Beardsworth added: "Radiohead have created a huge amount of excitement via the unique way in which they launched this campaign online. In Rainbows is truly a classic album and it deserves to reach a massive audience, well beyond that of download and boxset sales. We will be working closely with them to help deliver that."

The deal with XL will cover the world over with the exception of North America. A deal with ATO Records has been rumoured, but nothing has been confirmed for these shores just yet.
