Radiohead Producer Nigel Godrich Starts New Band, Releases Debut Video

Nigel Godrich is best known as Radiohead's production guru, but he has also lent his studio talents to Paul McCartney, Beck, Pavement and many more. Now, the recording genius is diversifying his resume by starting a new band, Ultraísta.

The band's website is exceptionally vague, but Pitchfork notes that the band also features singer Laura Bettison and Joey Waronker, the latter of whom has contributed drums to R.E.M., Elliott Smith, Beck and Smashing Pumpkins, and plays with Godrich in Thom Yorke's band Atoms for Peace.

So far, Ultraísta's catalogue consists of a single song, the synth-dazzled electro-pop cut "Smalltalk." You can stream the track, as well as check out its video, below.

While the band's future plans are unclear, here's one thing that we're willing to bet on: whatever music the band ultimately releases, it will be immaculately produced.
