Radiohead Fans Attacked at 'A Moon Shaped Pool' Event in Istanbul
Radiohead fans in Istanbul, Turkey, who were attending one of the band's special worldwide "Live from a Moon Shaped Pool" events were attacked by a group of men while the event was taking place.

According to reports on Reddit, the assailants were upset that Istanbul record store Velvet IndieGround was not observing Ramadan, with attendees playing music and drinking beer. A group of men attacked the store owner with pipes and bottles, "manhandled" customers and vandalized the shop itself.

A Reddit commenter alleged: "i was one of the hosts. i am the person that's speaking in that video, i am the owner of that periscope account. they were determined to kill us. we were beaten by more than 20 men with pipes in their hands, beer bottles were broken on our heads, i don't even know how we made it out. i will share the details later guys. just hoping that no one will die."

UPDATE (6/17, 9 p.m. EDT): Radiohead have now issued the following statement about the attacks: "Our hearts go out to those attacked tonight at Velvet IndieGround in Istanbul. We hope that someday we will be able to look back on such acts of violent intolerance as things of the ancient past. For now, we can only offer our fans in Istanbul our love and support."

As previously reported, Radiohead fans attended independent record stores around the globe today to celebrate the physical arrival of A Moon Shaped Pool.

Video of the incident was captured through Periscope, which you can see below. At least one attendee was injured in the attack.
