Josh Fauver — a longtime former bassist in Deerhunter — has died. While details are still unclear, a rep from the group confirmed the sad news, while the band themselves posted a tribute post to Fauver on Instagram with the caption "Very difficult times now." As of press time, no cause of death has been revealed. Fauver was 39.
Fauver joined Deerhunter in 2004 and played with the Georgia indie-rock group from their 2005 debut album until 2010's Halcyon Digest. In addition to Deerhunter, Fauver was a member of Atlanta bands Electrosleep International and S.I.D.S., as well as ran a label called Army of Bad Luck.
Fauver left Deerhunter in 2012, and the following year the band's Bradford Cox told Bomb Magazine: "Josh Fauver, the longtime bass player, not the original bass player, but the longest running bass player, for unknown reasons that have not been explained to me, just … didn't want to be in the band anymore for personal reasons, which I'm not privy to. There was no animosity or acrimony."
