R.I.P. Anticon Co-Founder Alias

Brendon Whitney, best known as the rapper-producer Alias and the co-founder of the label Anticon, has passed away. He was 41.

The sad news was confirmed by Anticon, as the label posted a tribute message alongside a photo of Whitney with his family. His collaborator Sage Francis confirmed that Whitney had died of a heart attack.

Hailing from Maine, Whitney moved to California and co-founded Anticon in 1998. He went on to have a productive career, releasing numerous albums and EPs in addition to racking up production credits. He eventually moved back to East Coast and settled in Portland, ME.
