Though currently content to sit behind his drum kit as the bandleader on Jimmy Fallon's Tonight Show, the Roots' Questlove is about to extend his grasp on TV audiences by executive producing a new music program for VH1.
Billboard reports that the skinsman's next small-screen project is called SoundClash, with the basic concept of the show being that it features three acts performing from one stage throughout the program. With Questlove tackling things on the executive producer front, hosting duties will be handled by another music industry fave: Major Lazer/Mad Decent founder Diplo.
The talent will apparently range from top-draw artists to up-and-comers, with the July 23 debut set to feature Lil Wayne, Fall Out Boy and London Grammar. The July 30 episode will bring out Ed Sheeran, Sia and Grouplove.
Details beyond the first two episodes have yet to arrive.
The program will apparently have the artists playing a mix of originals, covers and collaborations.
