Toronto stoner rockers Quest for Fire have finished work on Lights from Paradise and have announced an August 31 release date for the disc.
It would appear that the album, the band's second, finds the guys taking their penchant for lengthy jams to new heights - a press release says the band delivers, ahem, "far-out trippiness" via "long-form songs, distended, leaden riffs, heavy psychedelic swirl and solo-based jams that evoke memories of classic underground blues and garage rock from the '70s." (This, from ex-Cursed folk!)
Lights from Paradise also features a guest appearance from Sophie Trudeau of Montreal's Thee Silver Mt. Zion, and will be Quest for Fire's first proper full-length recorded for Tee Pee Records. The label previously reissued Quest for Fire's debut in early 2009.
Quest for Fire have also announced two dates with fellow Canadian jammers Black Mountain in July; more Quest for Fire dates will be confirmed soon.
