Quadraped Barbeque of Souls

Once again the duo of guitarist Andrew Frontini and drummer Blake Howard put their best feet forward in Quadruped for this, their second full-length. It's a more ambitious, more balanced overall listen than their Entering Elderado debut, though it retains their trademarks sounds: finger-picked surreal country soundscapes, fast-paced cinematic explorations, and the mind meld of two musicians who like to keep their improvs on the rock side of jazz guitarist John Scofield and noodling post-rockers Do Make Say Think. Their impeccable melodic sense and penchant for efficiency thankfully keeps this under 45 minutes and away from the for-its-own-sake jamfest that would have you stretching to skip tracks. Beautiful.
