QT

"Hey QT"

XL Recordings hasn't quite detailed its plans for new signee QT, but the label is previewing what's to come with a stream of the act's seemingly self-referential, sugar-glazed dance-pop confection, "Hey QT."

Described in a press release as "glossy, hyperreal pop" with touches of "twisted, provocative electronics," the sonics come courtesy of producers SOPHIE and A.G. Cook. Comprising a bedrock of chipper synth melodies, a staccato snare punch and the pitch-shifted calls of QT, the track plays out like a late '90s club cut reworked by a British Chipette. The tune has QT talking about a connection with an absentee beau ("I feel your hands on my body every time you think of me, boy"), and generally feeling pretty optimistic about her situation.

Oddly, the campaign behind the track is framed as an ad for an "energy elixir." While we wait for more details, you can drink up "Hey QT" down below.
