Puddle of Mudd

Come Clean

You'd have to be living under a rock these days to not have experienced the latest signing to Fred Durst's label, Flawless. Puddle of Mudd's first single, "Control," turned heads at rock radio with its mildly suggestive lyrics (often referred to as the "Smack My Ass Song"). But the full disc is less memorable, with touches of many bands already known and loved (Alice In Chains, Staind, Green Day, Nirvana). Lyrically, Puddle of Mudd is another group of "it sucks to be me" guys that grows tiresome and annoying after a few songs. The radio-friendly guitar and eccentrically long intros don't help to sway my opinion of this disc. If you are looking to condense your CD collection, Puddle of Mudd is for you. If you are looking for originality, keep looking.
