Psychedelic Horseshit Order Label To Burn All Copies of New Record

In the lo-fi scene, you expect a certain level of sloppiness, a certain level of "who gives a shit?” But it seems shitgazers Psychedelic Horseshit’s UK label Half Machine Records has taken this lax attitude a bit too far. According to the Ohio lo-fi act, the label has butchered the band’s latest seven-inch, "New Wave Hippies,” leading the group to call for all copies to be burned to a crisp or destroyed in some equally violent manner.

In an email sent to the label (and then posted on Drowned in Sound) by band member Matt Horseshit, he had this to say to Half Machine:

Dude, got the EPs today, what the fuck is with the spaces in between the tracks? They were strung together with care. THERE ARE GUITAR AND DRUM PARTS CHOPPED IN HALF. I am beyond pissed off. This is why bands are supposed to get test pressings. This thing is a piece of junk now, completely worthless, and all copies must be burned or otherwise destroyed. I am deadly serious about this. If this gets out i will personally make it my job to see to it that every copy is retrieved [sic] and destroyed. starting at yr offices.

In response, Half Machine has now released a statement of its own, saying the label will indeed comply to the band’s request and reduce all copies of "New Wave Hippies” to cinders. "As requested we'll be setting all copies we can get our hands on alight,” said the statement. "We'll film it and post it on youtube to prove to Matt (and you) that we really have thrown just over a grand down the drain. We're kind of like a poor mans KLF...”

There is no word yet on whether the label will repress the release or when we expect to see the YouTube video of the "New Wave Hippies” bonfire.
