Protest the Hero

It’s not often that a band can successfully combine conscious lyrics, pop oriented melodies and detailed rock orchestration. Protest the Hero have done all of this, while still managing to kick the ass of almost every other band in their genre. Kezia, which is also the name of the main character in this hardcore rock opera, relays a woeful story through three acts. Songs are engaging and original and complex but not over-extended. Epic highlights include "Turn the Soonest to the Sea” and "Divinity Within.” Think Queen meets Coheed and Cambria.
