Prophets Reveal 'What I Hide' EP, Plot North American Tour

BY Calum SlingerlandPublished Jun 1, 2016

Hamilton-based metalcore crew Prophets shared their crushing single "Desperate" with us late last year and have now detailed the forthcoming effort it will be a part of. A new four-track EP from the band titled What I Hide will show itself this month.

The follow-up to the band's 2012 full-length The Youth, the new EP is described by the band as their most personal release to date. It will also reportedly show a side of the group previously unseen, incorporating clean vocals and a "cathartic, angst-ridden nostalgia" akin to hardcore bands of the early 2000s.

"It was a quite a contrast from our last record which was, for lack of better wording, me being angry at people and letting myself vent over a microphone," vocalist Ian Flynn said in a statement. "This time it took a lot out myself emotionally, which for people who know me, don't really see that side because I'm stoked on life 99.9% of the time.

"I'd be lying if I said there wasn't a few tears shed in process. It was something we did as a group and I can speak for everyone that we are so glad people get to hear these songs, finally."

The band will also be embarking on a tour of North America this summer alongside Conveyer and High Hopes. Scroll through the EP tracklist and tour itinerary to watch the band's video for "Separate."
