Prisoner Cinema

Prisoner Cinema

BY Keith CarmanPublished Sep 14, 2009

Rather surprising for a self-produced debut effort, Prisoner Cinema reveal a unified front with this eponymous 12-track affair. Inspired by metal but clearly a collection of hardcore punk rockers at heart, the album ravages with a Minor Threat influence that embraces a bit more of a melodic twist yet still refuses to compromise on any level. Slightly juvenile in its unsurprising angle, yet invigorating for the vehement passion and hook-laden choruses, Prisoner Cinema are fascinating, inspiring and primal. From the confrontational stance of opener "Night Terrors" through to "The Alberta Way" and its anthemic prowess, and the relentless aggression of "The Blaze," this power trio provide a welcome introduction to the bitter fury of Albertan punk.
