Published Jul 09, 2010Working non-stop is one of Guillermo Scott Herren's best character traits. With projects like Savath & Savalas, Diamond Watch Wrists, Piano Overlord and, of course, genre-defining solo moniker Prefuse 73, the artist has released a boggling amount of material during the course of his career. Refusing to slow down, he's just announced another ambitious Prefuse 73 album.
According to a MySpace blog post, the new record "has proved the most exhausting of all of my records I've released in my 'career.'" Herren continues to explain that the album came from a desire to work with only the female voice and a newfound obsession with contact mics.
The female voices he tapped for the record include Broadcast's Trish Keenan, Zola Jesus, My Brightest Diamond's Shara Worde, Dirty Projector's Angel Deradoorian, Flying Lotus collaborator Niki Randa and various others. The album also features sequencing skills from Battles' Tyondai Braxton.
While the album doesn't have a release date yet, Herren promised that we'll be hearing more from him now that he's not busy with it. "It literally has kept me on lockdown from most the world, like playing shows as much as I'd like to, turning down great people for remixes and collaborations, etc.," he wrote.
