Porcelain Raft Unveils 'Half Awake' EP

BY Gregory AdamsPublished Apr 27, 2015

Dream-pop songsmith Porcelain Raft (a.k.a. Mauro Remiddi) has announced he has a new EP on the way, and that it will be coming out on his own newly founded record label. Titled Half Awake, Remiddi's latest lands June 2 on cassette and as a digital download through Volcanic Field.

Porcelain Raft had issued 2012's Strange Weekend and 2013's Permanent Signal LPs through Secretly Canadian, and had also delivered singles and EPs through Polyvinyl and Acéphale. A new statement from the songwriter explains why he's opted to catalogue his career on his own.

"Volcanic Field is born from the need to create a house for all my music and ideas. A sort of archive, a diary of my work in progress, for the sake to tell the story and tell it all," Remiddi said. "I've been recording a lot of music in the past two years, songs and also instrumental abstract stuff. This EP is only the tip of the iceberg and it feels very good to finally release it and share it, I cannot wait to play this songs live."

While a tracklisting has yet to pop up in full, Porcelain Raft has uploaded a stream of the upcoming set's "All in My Head." You'll find the sanguine slice of modern synth-pop down below, courtesy of Stereogum.

In addition to the new music, the Half Awake EP comes with a linoleum print Remiddi made in his home studio. You can also see a few upcoming tour dates below.
