Summer festival season may be getting into full swing, but the folks of Pop Montreal are already looking ahead to the autumn for their upcoming 2012 edition. Going down September 19 to 23, Pop Montreal has just announced its initial lineup for this year's event, and as always, there is an impressive array of artists already onboard.

Today (June 6) organizers revealed the first bath of Pop acts, and they include (deep breath) Grizzly Bear, Lil B, Bertrand Burgalat, Hot Snakes, Tim Hecker, K'naan, Chilly Gonzales, Patrick Wolf, Deerhoof, Gang Gang Dance, Jimmy "Bo" Horne, Gotye, Nicky Da B, Zammuto, Yamantaka//Sonic Tittan, Dâm-Funk, Andre Williams, Dirty Three, the Sadies, Julia Holter, Antibalas, Mr. Muthafuckin' eXquire and Stereolab's Laetitia Sadier, among others.

Strangely enough, festivalgoers can also expect "the best American Idol contestant ever Jacob Lusk performing a set of R. Kelly covers backed by a Montreal all-star band," according to the press release. Also, as part of the Pop Symposium, organizers have partnered with Librairie Drawn & Quarterly to present a conversation with Talking Head David Byrne and Win Butler of Arcade Fire, who will be discussing Byrne's book, How Music Works, "in the context of their own personal and professional experiences as musicians and music lovers."

Expect a whole pile of more artists and festival announcements in the near future. For now, head here to take advantage of Pop Montreal's special early bird pass price, which lasts until June 30.
