Ponderosa Arts & Music Festival Revived for 2016

BY Sarah MurphyPublished Feb 18, 2016

Ponderosa Arts & Music Festival was set to return to Rock Creek, BC, for its third instalment last year — until wildfires forced organizers to cancel the event. They're giving it another go this year, though, and early details for the 2016 edition of Ponderosa have just been confirmed.

The three-day music, art and camping festival will take over Rock Creek once again from August 19 to 21.

"Last year's cancellation was difficult to say the least, but it has motivated us even more to come back even stronger this year," co-founder Kia Zahrabi said in a statement. "Quality music, chill vibes, awesome value, maximum freshness — that's what Ponderosa is, and this year our fans have an added opportunity to directly help a community that was hit by the worst forest fire they've seen in over 30 years."

In order to help with the ongoing rebuilding process in the area, a portion of each ticket sold will be donated to Habitat for Humanity's Southeast BC division. Earlybird weekend passes are available now for $99; once those are sold out, regular weekend passes will retail at $129.

This year's lineup announcement is expected to arrive in early May. Last year's cancelled event had Mounties, the Harpoonist & the Axe Murderer, Bear Mountain, Top Less Gay Tekno Party, Fake Shark, Fort Knox Five and Gay Nineties scheduled to perform.
