Polvo Announce More Reunion Shows, Work On New Material, Reissue Albums

BY Cam LindsayPublished Apr 25, 2008

As we previously reported, '90s indie rockers Polvo are reuniting. Hooray! But since the initial announcement, the band have scheduled more shows now, adding summer dates in Boston, New York, Hoboken, Chicago, and the My Bloody Valentine-curated ATP festival in September.

Billboard.com reports that despite the additional gigs, the band aren't prepared to take on a full tour. "We're only scheduled to do a handful of shows right now, and since we're old and have jobs, I can't see us jumping in the van and hitting the road," said vocalist/guitarist David Brylawski. "But we are sort of seeing what happens right now in terms of developing future plans."

As far as getting back into the swing of things, Brylawksi says the band are set to rearrange some of their songs during their sets. "We didn't go the route of relearning everything chord for chord. We decided to rebuild the songs, and while they retain the essence of the old songs, some are pretty different. It's the updated version 2.0 of Polvo."

In addition to the reunion gigs are talks of recording new material. Said Brylawski, "We are keeping an open mind, and we have a few songs already written. It's hard because our songwriting process takes a really long time, and we live in different places. But we'll see how the new songs work and go from there.

"Our label, Touch & Go, is the same as it was back in the day. The Internet and music blogs are the biggest, most obvious difference, but they almost feel the same way zines did in the '90s."

To raise the level of excitement, Touch & Go is set to reissue vinyl editions of Polvo's Exploded Drawing and Shapes, which will include coupons to download MP3s of the music.
