Pole

3

Berlin mastering engineer Stefan Betke’s third release under the name Pole probably won’t provoke the extreme reactions that his first EP did, despite (or because of) his easily recognised aesthetic. This full-length shifts the listener’s focus from Betke’s signature crackles and clicks to the tunes he’ s been carefully interweaving behind them. The tunes themselves are a soothing blend of early Tangerine Dream and DJ Krush, undemanding ambience for those who will hear this in the background. Turned up, Pole 3 delivers rib-crushing subs and a sense of space that supports, rather than buries his melodies.
