Pokey LaFarge Announces New Album for Third Man Records

BY Alex HudsonPublished Mar 27, 2013

St. Louis songwriter Pokey LaFarge is closely associated with Jack White, having performed on last year's Blunderbuss and released a 7-inch through White's Third Man Records back in 2011. The garage rocker's label will also release LaFarge's upcoming self-titled album this summer.

The disc was produced by Old Crow Medicine Show frontman Ketch Secor. Expect it to showcase LaFarge's vintage Americana sound, as a press release notes, "Pokey and his band bring a focus and energy to the American roots genre with infectious original material that sits at the crossroads of early jazz, country blues and western swing."

The single "Central Time" will arrive in May, while the full-length is due out in June.

The announcement doesn't identify a specific release date, but notes that LaFarge and his band will perform at Third Man's Nashville headquarters for a release party on June 1. This show will be recorded directly to acetate, presumably for a live album.

Additionally, LaFarge will touring throughout North America in the coming months and will make a Canadian stop in Vancouver. See the schedule below.
