PJ Harvey

"The Community of Hope" (video)

BY Sarah MurphyPublished Mar 18, 2016

Last week, PJ Harvey unveiled "The Community of Hope" from her upcoming album The Hope Six Demolition Project. Now, she's given that same song some accompanying visuals.

The clip was captured to film by Harvey's frequent collaborator Seamus Murphy and points the lens on Washington, DC. He shoots footage of everyday life in the U.S. capital, serving as a sort of companion piece to "The Wheel" which implemented the same approach in Kosovo.

The upcoming album takes its name from a government strategy to revitalize public housing projects in America, transitioning them into mixed-income neighbourhoods. Themes of grappling with the gap between poverty and gentrification come to light in the new clip for "The Community of Hope," which you can watch in the player below.

The Hope Six Demolition Project arrives on April 15 through Island Records.
