Pixies Recruit the Muffs' Kim Shattuck as New Bassist

BY Josiah HughesPublished Jul 1, 2013

Last week, long-running indie rock troupe the Pixies unveiled new track "Bagboy," which marks their first new material since 2004. It's also their first new material without Kim Deal, who recently quit the band. Now, the band have revealed who will be replacing her.

They've traded one Kim for another, as Deal will now be replaced by Kim Shattuck. Best known as the guitarist for the Muffs, Shattuck also played bass in the Los Angeles garage group the Pandoras.

The new lineup of the Pixies is currently hard at work in preparation for an upcoming European tour. On that trek, a press release states that they'll draw on their entire catalogue, performing brand new material along with songs that have never been played on stage before.

The Pixies current tour dates are available here, with more on the way. The band also released a video for "Bagboy," which is available below.
