Pitbull

Money Is Still a Major Issue

Miami’s finest throws down a remix album with four new songs and a bonus DVD. The DVD first: the standard club hoochie-and-crystal music videos are, but slightly more interesting are his live performances (though it’s mostly several different versions of his huge hit "Toma”), and his team-up with a barely clothed Paulina Rubio on the Latin MTV Awards that will no doubt appeal to anyone with a pulse. Notably missing is a decent feature on the artist himself. The CD proper will appeal first to the converted hip-hop/reggaeton/dancehall fans already imbued with love for his frenetic flow, his yelling of mono-syllabic choruses, and his label-mate, and frequent collaborator, Lil Jon’s bass-heavy beats. Oh, and a working knowledge of Spanish will help. The remixes are either barely different than the original ("Turnin Me On Remix” ft. Nina Sky) or so insanely crunked-up they make you want to fight and fuck at the same time ("Dammit Man” with Lil Flip); though again, this is basically the same song with a Flip verse. Of the new songs here, only "Everybody Get Up” with Pretty Ricky will really grab you, but given the love the world’s massive Latin population have for Pitbull, he’s going to sell a grip of these regardless.
