Pinback's Rob Crow Returns with New Project

BY Alex HudsonPublished Nov 17, 2015

Back in March, Pinback's Rob Crow said that he was quitting the music business. Despite all that, though, he's announced a new album from a new project.

The new project is called Rob Crow's Gloomy Place, and it features the rock songwriter backed by some friends. Their album You're Doomed. Be Nice. is due out on March 4 through Temporary Residence Ltd.

The album was produced by Ben Moore (Hot Snakes, Black Heart Procession). For a taste of what they have concocted, stream the grooving, jauntily bass-driven track "Business Interruptus" at the bottom of this page. If you're suitably impressed, You're Doomed. Be Nice. is available to pre-order right here.

Crow will be touring the U.S. in March of next year. Scroll past the album's 13-song tracklist to see the itinerary.

Before you start celebrating Crow's reemergence, however, it's worth pointing out that it's not clear whether this is a full-scale return. In his retirement tweet from earlier this year, Crow said, "I'm gonna finish up & release all my current records & give up."

In other words, it's entirely possible that this is one of those final records he mentioned. An announcement from Temporary Residence notes that the new album is "either the first gem of an inspired second act, or the culmination of an undeniably influential career."
