Vermont's Pilot to Gunner, which features three quarters of the Madelines, are a little more focused on the straight-ahead rock sound of Trigger-era Soul Side with tracks like "Wires" and "New Dictionaries." But they too know how to break things down into the crude, sparse and experimental as well as is evident on the six-minute tester "The Plunder and the Pay Off."
