A woman pretending to be an AC/DC concert promoter was arrested in Australia recently for conning fans out of nearly $100,000.
According to Canoe, 41-year-old Leanne Herbert was arrested last month after spending seven months promoting a fraudulent AC/DC concert in Sydney, Australia.
Herbert was charged with four counts of obtaining money by deception after receiving ticket purchase funds and securing sponsorship for a show that was never scheduled to happen. Those conned included fans, businesses and even charities. Police caught on when a representative of the band claimed to have never met or communicated with Herbert in any professional capacity.
Herbert appeared as a defendant at a Port Macquarie, Australia court on Monday (June 7), but has yet to enter a plea. Her next court date is June 21, until which time she is being held without bail at Emu Plains Correctional Centre in Sydney.
