We chronicled the life and times of Pharrell Williams earlier this year with our Timeline feature, and now the musician's story has inspired a new musical from Fox.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the musical is titled Atlantis and was inspired by Williams's childhood in Virginia Beach. The project is described as "a Romeo and Juliet style story with a musical element."

The publication also reports that Michael Mayer, who has worked on Broadway musicals Spring Awakening and Green Day's stage adaptation of American Idiot, is lined up to direct. Martin Hynes is attached as a writer, while Williams and Mimi Valdes will serve as producers through I Am Other. Gill Netter will also producer for Netter Films.

The announcement of Atlantis marks Williams's return to Fox following his involvement in their acclaimed Hidden Figures, for which he produced and wrote multiple original songs.
